PC Inspector File Recovery

There are many problems which can end with lost files, from confirming a deletion by accident to hard drive failure. If you don't have backups, you can still salvage the lost files with a specialized application. PC Inspector File Recovery can analyze your hard drive for deleted files and it can recover them right away. The application is capable of recovering files even if header entries are no longer available or if the boot sector or FAT is erased or damaged.

PC Inspector File Recovery is offered as a freeware application. It works on Windows XP and previous versions, down to Windows 95 and it doesn't have any special requirements. You can also run it on later versions, in compatibility mode. The installation process is straightforward and easy, but you need to be careful what Accept options you click, if you don't want to install any third party tools.

When launched, the application will present three recovery operations, for deleted files, data that was lost due to quick formatting or system crashes, and for finding lost drives. Once you choose an operation, PC Inspector File Recovery will scan your hard drive and it will display its partitions on a small window. You can target physical or logical drives, which are listed on the same window, on separate tabs.

Besides scanning an entire partition, the application can be set to scan a specific portion, by specifying start and end clusters. The scan results are displayed on PC Inspector File Recovery's main user interface, like on a standard explorer window. Root folders, deleted and lost data and searched items can be accessed in a tree structure. You can set up a new scan at any time and use a search function to find files with specific names or extensions. Once you locate the files you are looking for, you can recover them by simply copying them to a local folder.
